Tampines Bus Package put up for tender

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has called a tender for the Tampines Bus Package on 19 December 2024, under Contract PT220: Bus Contracting – Tampines Bus Package.

As part of the Bus Contracting Model implemented in 2016, LTA entered into a Negotiated Contract with SBS Transit to operate bus services under the Tampines Bus Package initially for an 8-year duration, ending in 2024. In 2021, this contract was subsequently extended for an undisclosed duration as part of NRFF V2 transition agreement with LTA.

Bus services under this package will likely operate out of East Coast Bus Depot, which is expected to be completed and opened in 2026.

Bus Services

As of December 2024, existing bus services covered by the existing PT207 Tampines Bus Package (Negotiated Contract) are: 4, 10, 10e, 18, 19, 20, 23, 28, 29, 31, 37, 38, 39, 47, 65, 69, 72, 81, 127, 129, 291, 292, 293, 296, 298/298X & 513 (26 bus routes).

Bus routes primarily operate from Tampines, Tampines Concourse and Tampines North bus interchanges, which will likely become anchor termini under the Tendered Contract.

The details of the current tender have yet to be announced.

Tender Details

The contract listing in GeBIZ states a contact delivery date of 4 July 2031. This indicates a likely transition date sometime in July 2026, given a 5-year base period for BCM tendered contracts.

Similarly, East Coast Bus Depot is also projected to open in 2026. The multi-storey bus depot is part of the East Coast Integrated Depot site, and can accommodate over 500 buses, including the capacity to charge about 240 electric buses.

Electric bus chargers were installed in East Coast Bus Depot to support the rollout of 360 electric buses, under Contract BD401.

The tender will close on 17 April 2025.
