Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located at Pasir Ris Central and serves the residential town of Pasir Ris. As part of the Pasir Ris Town Centre, it serves Pasir Ris MRT Station and nearby public amenities such as White Sands Shopping Mall, Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, Pasir Ris Town Park and Pasir Ris Sports Centre.
The reconfigured Pasir Ris Bus Interchange opened on 3 July 2021. This marks the opening of a new concourse area at the eastern side of the existing interchange, creating 23 new end-on berth lots and a dedicated pick-up/drop-off point for MINDEF shuttle buses.
The western side of the existing interchange would be demolished to facilitate the construction of the Pasir Ris Integrated Transport Hub (ITH, projected completion around 2028) and the Pasir Ris Rail Turnback. There were no route changes to existing bus services at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange.

Background:
Pasir Ris Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located in the residential town of Pasir Ris. Connecting with Pasir Ris MRT Station along the East-West MRT Line, the interchange is a transport node for commuters heading in and out of town, allowing for convenient transfers between the rail network and the many bus services at the interchange.
Vehicle access is offered via a combined ingress/egress leading to a signalised junction with Pasir Ris Drive 3, and secondary access is via Pasir Ris Central Street 3 (left-in-left-out junction). As of July 2021, the present interchange layout was reconfigured from the original layout, retaining the East Wing of the old interchange and adding a new concourse area adjacent to it. Sheltered linkways connect the interchange with Pasir Ris MRT Station and White Sands Shopping Mall.
Apart from public bus services, the interchange is used as a pick-up and drop-off location for shuttle buses between Pasir Ris and the SAF Ferry Terminal, frequented by national servicemen heading to and from Pulau Tekong. With the opening of the reconfigured Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, these activities now take place at designated berths in the “BMT@Pasir Ris” area.
History:
Pasir Ris Bus Interchange opened on Sunday, 10th December 1989 with Bus Services 12 and 19 relocated from Pasir Ris Terminal, and the introduction of Feeder Service 350. Pasir Ris MRT Station opened six days later, on 16th December 1989. It was designed with a wide concourse area, with interchange offices and passenger service kiosks placed along the edge of the concourse to avoid interfering with the flow of commuters.
On the architectural aspect, Pasir Ris Bus Interchange features oriental-styled roof trusses that are anchored at the ends by two pavilions designed with Chinese, Indian and Malay motifs. Each of the seven original berths—two alighting and five boarding berths—also featured smaller pavilions at the edge of the bus park with similar motifs. Two of these berths that flanked Pasir Ris MRT station—berths B4 and B6—were built taller than the others. For each boarding berth, the sheltered queue line extends from the concourse to the edge of the bus park.
Over the years, several improvements have been made to the ageing interchange, including the installation of lighting fixtures, CCTV systems, next bus departure timing screens etc. All boarding berths were also upgraded for wheelchair accessibility with an additional sheltered walkway between the concourse and each berth, bypassing the existing queue lines.
On 3 Jul 2021, the reconfigured Pasir Ris Bus Interchange (Pasir Ris Interim Bus Interchange) replaced part of the old interchange, which would be demolished to facilitate the construction of the Pasir Ris Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) and the Pasir Ris Rail Turnback. The new ITH is projected for completion around 2028.
Reconfigured Pasir Ris Bus Interchange (Pasir Ris Interim Bus Interchange):
In 2017, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) indicated that Pasir Ris Bus Interchange will be replaced by a future Integrated Transport Hub built west of the existing East West Line MRT Station.
The reconfigured interchange, dubbed Pasir Ris Interim Bus Interchange, opened on 3 July 2021. It retains the existing eastern half of Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, with a new extension built to accommodate 23 end-on berth lots and a new dedicated pick-up and drop-off point for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), named BMT@Pasir Ris, for the frequent shuttle buses that operate between the interchange and the SAF Ferry Terminal near Changi Beach.
The western half of the old interchange would be demolished to facilitate the construction of the Pasir Ris Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) and the Pasir Ris Rail Turnback.
The new concourse areas are built with tall cantilevered roofs, offering a sense of spaciousness that contrasts sharply with the low roof of the old interchange design.
The modification works to the existing eastern portion of Pasir Ris Bus Interchange include:
- Retaining of existing boarding Berth B3
- Converting alighting Berth B1 & B2 into boarding berths
- Construction of new alighting berths A1 & A2
- Addition of large cantilevered roof structures at Berths B1, B2, B3 while incorporating the old shelters

Since Berths B6 and B7 are going to be removed, all these services will move to the end-on berths (A1 – A23). However, 359 East loop will move to Berth B5 and 358 West Loop will move to the end on berths. This is because 358 and 359 start with West Loop and continues as a East Loop where the second time the bus reaches Pasir Ris Int will be considered an enroute stop.
Actually berth 5-7 are going to be removed. The first berth is actually a new berth built approximately where the old transit link concession pass office was. So the old layout’s b3 and b4 becomes b2 and b3 respectively. That’s why the 4 services are allocated to b2 and not b1.
Pasir Ris Interim Int has 47 designated lots for 16 service which i say is not bad afterall..Hopefully no more new service for now..No 3 can just passby and stop at the new bus stops
The interim interchange design quite complicated ah… I wonder the end-on berth are for which services?

Svc 12, 15, 21, 68, 88, 354, 403 (7 Services x 3 berth each = 21 berth)
The rest use saw-tooth berths

Only got 14 Services serving current Pasir Ris Interchange. Even if inclusive of Svc 3 & 68, it would be 16 services. So there will be new services or if not is for the MRT Shuttle services…
