Further Bus Service Developments in Yishun (2015 – Present)
In 2015, the former Yishun Bus Interchange was closed and demolished to make way for the extension of Northpoint Shopping Centre, which would be part of a new integrated development that include North Park Residences. The Yishun Temporary Bus Interchange, located opposite the former interchange, took its place as the central hub for Yishun New Town for several years, before the completion of the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) in 2019.
In 2021, Tower Transit Singapore took over as the anchor operator of Yishun Bus Interchange, after clinching the contract for the Sembawang-Yishun Bus Package a year prior. 6 bus services operating out of the interchange are transferred to the new operator in September of that year.
Under a new masterplan by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 2024, a new Chencharu Bus Interchange will be established to cater to the new Chencharu residential zone in Yishun New Town, bounded by Sembawang Road and the existing Khatib MRT station. The proposed bus interchange is slated for opening in the 2040s, when the new Build-To-Order (BTO) projects in Chencharu are completed.
