Further Bus Service Developments in Sengkang (2003 – Present)
Under the North East Line (NEL) bus rationalisation, Jalan Kayu Bus Terminal was permanently abolished when Feeder Bus Services 378 & 379 were integrated with Bus Service 103, connecting Seletar Camp with Yio Chu Kang Road and Serangoon New Town.
In 2017, Compassvale Bus Interchange was opened as the secondary bus interchange for Sengkang New Town, as the main Sengkang Bus Interchange was too small to cater to additional bus services that were planned for the housing estate under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP). Bus Services 110 & 374 were introduced to operate from the interchange, located at the junction of Compassvale Road, Sengkang Square and Sengkang East Way.
With the development of new Build-To-Order (BTO) projects since the late 2010s, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) proposed the construction of a new bus interchange in Buangkok, which would be integrated with the Sengkang Grand Mall and other community amenities, such as the Buangkok Community Club and Buangkok Hawker Centre. After several years, Buangkok Bus Interchange opened along Sengkang Central in 2024, fully replacing Compassvale Bus Interchange as it absorbed Bus Services 110 & 114 (with buses parking at the interchange for layover since 2020) from the 1st secondary bus interchange. Feeder Bus Service 374 was re-routed to operate from the primary Sengkang Bus Interchange, with the route cutback for Bus Service 156 to Buangkok.
