Further Bus Service Developments in Bedok (2001 – Present)
To replace the former Marine Parade Bus Terminal, SBS built the new Upper East Coast Bus Terminal along Upper East Coast Road in 2001, which absorbed Bus Services 13 and 853# from the former bus terminus. While not located directly within Bedok New Town, Upper East Coast Bus Terminal serves as the terminating point for various trunk services that operate to/from the terminus via the neighbourhoods along Bedok North Road, Bedok North Street 3 and Bedok South Avenue 3.
In 2011, the former Bedok Bus Interchange was closed and demolished to make way for Bedok Mall & Residences, an integrated residential and commercial development. The Bedok Temporary Bus Interchange took its place as the central hub for Bedok New Town for several years, before the completion of the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) in 2014.
With the opening of Bedok South MRT station along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) by 2026, Upper East Coast Bus Terminal is expected to be replaced by the proposed Bedok South Integrated Transport Hub in the near future.
