2. Non-Deployment of Articulated Buses on Operational Bus Services*
The 40 existing MAN A24 (NG363F) articulated buses in Singapore – are only maintained/operated by the following operators in the following depots on selected routes:
- SBST Seletar Depot (SEDEP) since 18 Mar 2018
- SMRT Gali Batu Depot (GBDEP) since 4 Oct 2025
- SMRT Woodlands Depot (WLDEP) since 1997
- TTS Mandai Depot (MDDEP) since 19 Sep 2021
Under LTA regulations since the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), articulated buses are typically not deployed on long-distance trunk routes in favour of double-deck buses, which are perceived as more efficient in carrying passengers over extended route lengths and travel time.
However, some of the following bus services had previously operated with regular articulated bus deployments, and could theoretically still do so, notwithstanding the current fleet restrictions imposed by the LTA. Bus Services 106/106A, 189/189A & 945 are excluded, as they were transferred to Tower Transit and managed under Bulim Bus Depot since 2016, which currently does not have articulated buses in its fleet.
